First we will want to go into the LONE-TAR Main Menu.

Select option 9 (Device Manager)

Select Option 9 (NAS (Network Attached Storage) - NFS / Samba / USB Mount

Please enter an alias nickname for your Samba share.
* This is only relevant to the user, not the software.

Please enter the mount point and sub directory where backups will be placed.
* Note you do NOT have to specify a sub directory if you do not wish to.

Please select which block factor to use during backups. The higher the faster.
* Block Factor is how many '512 K' blocks are being backed up at one time.

Specify capacity of Samba share. (Cascade enabled)
* Linux - Set capacity to what ever size is available on remote side

Please select compression level.
* Compression reduces backup speed.

Specify the mount command LONE-TAR will use to mount device
Mount command example:
Linux:
mount -t smbfs //192.168.0.1/SHARE_DIRECTORY /SAMBAmount
mount -t smbfs //192.168.0.1/SHARE_DIRECTORY /SAMBAmount -o username=?,password=?

Please specify mount point one more time.

Please specify how many backups you wish to keep on your NFS filesystem.
* Daily Rotation = 1 Backup File Stored
* Weekly Rotation = 7 Backup Files Stored
* Monthly Rotation = 31 Backup Files Stored

Do you wish to make this your default device?
* Answer YES if you wish to do Crash Recovery from this device, else answer NO.
