Make sure you have:
During the RESCUE-RANGER format of the USB device, it will make three total partitions. The first two will be for RESCUE-RANGER during Crash Recovery, and the third partition can be used for LONE-TAR backups. Make sure you know what the device name is for the USB drive. Example: If your system recognizes your USB device as /dev/sda then the RESCUE-RANGER format on the USB device, will look like /dev/sda1 <-- Reserved for RESCUE-RANGER * If you wish only to use a USB drive as a emergency boot device and not a backup device, please proceed to the Set-up portion of this FAQ. If you wish to setup your USB device as a emergency boot device and backup device, please proceed with Pre Set-Up instructions. # ltmenu After entering the ALIAS name for the device follow screen displays below. Enter mount point. Directory MUST Exist. Select option 3 for Block Factor of 120 (Fastest) Select the capacity of your USB Device. Select which compression setting you want. Mount command: mount -t ext3 /dev/sda3 /usbBackup Enter mount point again. Pick the rotation you want your backups to be setup as. Answer YES to make default device. Once the device is setup properly. We can proceed to the Set-up. |

| Go into the RESCUE-RANGER Main Menu # ltmenu Select option 2 (Image Administrator) Select Option 5 (Create Bootable USB Hard drive or Flash) RESCUE-RANGER recognizes my USB Drive as /dev/sda If you have not already added the drive /dev/sda to the Hard Drive Exclusion List, please answer yes to above question and it will add the drive automatically for you. Congratulations! |
